In-surgery whitening (Britesmile) requires you to attend for a single 1-2 hour session with your dentist. During this appointment whitening gel is applied to your teeth and then activated by a gentle blue light for three 20-minute sessions. You will leave the surgery with your teeth many shades lighter. The effects of this whitening can last up to 18 months.

WHITE FILLINGS are now becoming a popular alternative to amalgam fillings. The new dental materials mean it is much easier to find a perfect match for the shade of a particular tooth. In most cases, it is almost impossible to see that the tooth even has a filling.

Your appearance can be affected by missing, broken, discoloured or irregular teeth. Cosmetic treatments such as veneers, crowns, bridges, implants, orthodontics, tooth-coloured fillings and tooth whitening can help improve your appearance.

VENEERS are an ideal way of treating discoloured or unsightly teeth, closing gaps, repairing chips and cracks, and improving alignment of the teeth. They are thin slices of porcelain that are made to fit precisely over the visible surfaces of the teeth.

CROWNS may be used to repair broken or decayed teeth, to strengthen teeth or again to improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth. They differ from veneers in that they encase the whole part of the tooth that is above the gum. The porcelain finish of the veneer or crown can be matched to your own natural tooth shading, or if you choose to restore all of your teeth then you can decide to have a lighter, brighter shade all over.

BRIDGES are very useful in replacing missing teeth by using the standing teeth on either side of the gap to support the ‘false tooth’, known as a pontic. The porcelain pontic is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in one area left by a missing tooth. These bridges are permanently cemented in your mouth, where they can help to improve the overall appearance of your smile. Tooth whitening can be carried out as a home procedure or as an in-surgery procedure. Tooth whitening at home involves getting your dentist to take impressions of your teeth in order to make your bleaching stents. These are mouthguards, into which you place the whitening gel and then you wear them for several hours per day. You will normally reach your desired colour after several weeks.
